Armor is a mostly obscured stat from the player. It applies a damage reduction on damage taken if you have it, and a damage increase if you have a negative amount. This applies to all damage taken, except the damage from a Shrine of Blood.

If you have positive armor:

  • Your damage taken is multiplied by 100 / (100 + Armor).
  • This is a number between 0 and 1.
  • The formula for damage reduction is: Armor / (100 + Armor).

If you have negative armor:

  • Your damage taken is multiplied by 2 - 100 / (100 - Armor).
  • This is a number between 1 and 2.
  • Note that the negative armor is subtracted, and two negatives make a positive.

It would take 330 Rose Bucklers (+30 armor while sprinting) to get a damage reduction of 99% while sprinting. This would amount to 9900 armor.

Sources of Armor

  • Playing on Drizzle grants each player a hidden item which grants 70 armor.
  • Acrid, Mercenary, Loader, and REX have 20 base armor.
  • MUL-T has 12 base armor.
  • MUL-T's utility skill "Transport Mode" grants him 200 armor while it's active.
  • The Rose Buckler grants 30 armor while sprinting.
  • The Effigy of Grief removes 20 armor from all characters in its radius while placed down.
  • Boss Monsters have base armor. See their individual pages.
  • Clay Dunestrider's recovery attack, during which they will pull in all nearby characters, grants the Dunestrider 200 armor while active.
  • Scavenger's item scavenging skill, grants it 200 armor while looking for an item.
  • Jade Elephant grants 500 armor while active.
  • Spinel Tonic grants 20 armor while active.
